Sukihotu,

The discussion of Nibbana continued with a respond from Sis Kah Yein.
This is what she has to say;-

Hi everyone,

I also don't think it's written anywhere that kamma is a form of energy.  As I understand it, kamma is intention (cittena, I think?).  I don't think we can classify kamma under any category or class of "stuff" known to us, scientifically or otherwise.

But very often, we hear Dhamma speakers explaining that it is karmic energy that is brought with us life after life. Again, the use of the word "energy" here is, in Yu Ban's words, "new-age" and used rather loosely.

By the way, the Acinteyya Sutta (AN 4.77) says that the result of kamma is an unthinkable. I don't think it's the workings of kamma.  For eg, if a person kills another this life, what will be the result?  That's an "unthinkable". If we think about that, we would become partially mad, it says.

"Bhikkhus, the result of kamma is unthinkable (acinteyyo). It should not be thought of; thinking about which one would become partially mad or distressed [lit. share-holders of madness, distress]."

Metta,
kahyein

Thank you and I'll a couple more responds on this topic

Today being the last day of the year. May I wish you a Happy New Year 2012.
