I thought I continue writing about my thoughts on passing judgment on others. We normally do it too quickly and made mistakes. You can see my previous article here.
Today, I read the Dhammapada and on verse 256 & 257 the Buddha have advised us to do some investigation before we pass judgement. Here's what he said:-
He is not thereby just because he hastily arbitrate cases. The wise man should investigate both right and wrong
- Dhammapada Verse 256
The intelligent person who leads others not falsely but lawfully and impartially, who is a guardian of the law, is called one who abides by the law (Dhammattha)
- Dhammapda Verse 257
My profession as an inventor brings out the nature in me to investigate a matter first before I pass judgement. However I must admit not all the time I do that. And even if I've done the necessary investigation, I sometime still get it wrong. There is still so much for me to learn.
If I can't get it right in this life time. I hope to improve in my next.
