Last weekend I brought my family to visit Furry Friends in Kundang which is about an hour drive from where I lived in Bandar Utama PJ. I thought I checked out that place to see if I can bring some children and conduct an invention workshop there. I was thinking of bringing cheers to that place and raise some fund for the poor animals.
This visit has brought me to get to know Sabrina Yeap. She is the founder of this animal sanctuary called Furry Friends Farm. You can see her homepage here. Sabrina has brought shelter and food for about 100 homeless dogs and another 100 homeless cats. More importantly she has brought love to these poor dogs and cats left on the streets. She is such a compassionate person.
Though she has some volunteers coming by, but she practically runs the place full time all by herself. She lived on the other side of Selangor state in Ampang which is also about an hour drive. She laboured through the traffic to come to Furry Friends to clean and wash the place daily. She fed the animal and take cares of them like her children.
Sabrina told me that place was established about 8 months ago. The land is large and covers about 1,8 acres which included a natural lake. And to me that was an impressed piece of work that she has done within such a short period of time. However, this animal home need a lot of work. As we entered the place on our 1st visit, we noticed a heavy stench of dog's pooh. The place is hot because there isn't much shelter built for visitor like us. There is no chair or bench for us to sit.
The place where the cats are kept looked clean. The cats themselves look healthy and happy. But I cannot say the same for the dogs. They don't look well. The dogs are skinny and looked sick.

Sabrina need help. She need volunteers to help clean the place weekly. She also need people to come and construct more pans for the dogs as well as some shed for visitors. She need volunteer to bath the dogs and cats. She need all the help she can get to keep the place going.
The dogs and cats goes to a nearby vet for medical treatment. According to Sabrina, she pays full fee for such service. Therefore she would be happy if someone can help with the medical. Or perhaps foot the medical bills.
Sabrina need fund. She need money to pay rent, utility, medicine and food. At the moment the 100 dogs and 100 cats is heavily depending on Sabrina. She is a one man army. I think we should help her. And for those who cannot go to the place to help her, I would suggest the least you could do is to support her by giving her a donation. Whatever amount I believe is useful to her.
