Dear Friends,

Following the response and feedback on our first attempt at encouraging fellow Buddhists to write through the publication ofCrystals in the Sand, Uncle Vijaya and I would now like to humbly invite everyone to again share your stories with us.

We are going to produce the second Crystals in the Sand, which would be called, very simply, More Crystals in the Sand.

We had not expected the first Crystals to be so well-received, especially with its very modest layout, but it is, based on the feedback we've got.  Bro Prem says there has been many reprints and requests for more.  It just goes to show that Buddhists look beyond exteriors and go for the essence and the message in the stories.  Perhaps, Buddhists also look upon the book as an opportunity to share their stories and experiences, while rejoicing with others in their practice of the Dhamma.

As with the first Crystals, the criteria for the articles would be the same:

Theme & Concept:
Real-life, original (non-fiction) heart-warming stories written from a Buddhist heart or a Buddhist viewpoint.

(1) True stories, or real-life reflections.
(2) Maximum: 2500 words  (no minimum, small is beautiful)
(3) Please incorporate Dhamma into the stories if possible.
(4) Articles are to be submitted in MSWord, with title of article and the real name of the author(s).
(5) If you are a child below 18, please state your age.
(6) The editors reserve the right to edit the contributions for clarity and consistency.
(7) The editors reserve the right to select or reject the articles based on set criteria.

Please send your articles to chankahyein@
gmail.com

Deadline: 31st December 2011.  Will extend if we don't have enough by then!

We'd like to thank Bro Premaseri for supporting this project and assisting with the sponsorship of the publication.

We would be very grateful if you could kindly help us forward this invitation to your respective centres, mailing lists, family and friends as we would like to give more people the opportunity to share their practice and experiences with us.

We hope to hear from you soon.

Thank you for your support.

With metta,
Chan Kah Yein
(and on behalf of Uncle Vijaya Samarawickrama)
